BMW 3 Series Brake Pads: OEM vs Brembo vs Textar — What to Choose in India

10 March 2025 · Eurospares Team

If you own a BMW 3 Series in India — whether that's an E90, F30, or G20 — your brake pads are one of the most important service items you will ever replace. Indian traffic conditions, with their constant stop-and-go in cities like Delhi and Mumbai, put an unusual amount of thermal stress on brake components. Choosing the right pad brand can mean the difference between 25,000 km of confident stopping power and a noisy, fading set that needs replacing within a year.

Genuine BMW (OEM) Brake Pads

Genuine BMW pads are manufactured by either ATE or Textar, depending on the model year and axle. They arrive in BMW packaging with the part number printed on the box, and they cost between ₹6,500 and ₹9,000 for a front axle set. The advantage is a perfect fit and BMW-engineered friction characteristics — they behave exactly as the ABS and stability control systems were calibrated to expect. The downside is cost, and in India, availability through authorised dealers can mean wait times of 7–14 days for non-mainstream 3 Series variants.

Brembo Brake Pads

Brembo is the benchmark for aftermarket brake pads among European car enthusiasts globally. Their P-Series compound for BMW is a direct OEM-quality fitment — in fact, Brembo supplies brake components directly to BMW AG for certain performance models. Indian pricing for a front axle set runs ₹7,500 to ₹11,000, slightly above genuine BMW pricing but with vastly better availability. Brembo P-Series pads run slightly hotter before full bite, which can be an advantage on highway runs but requires a short bedding-in period of around 200 km.

Textar Brake Pads

Textar is a brand of TMD Friction, the world's largest brake pad manufacturer. When BMW says "genuine", Textar is often the actual manufacturer stamped inside the box. As an independent aftermarket brand, Textar sells the same compound at ₹3,200 to ₹4,800 per axle — making it the most cost-effective choice without sacrificing quality. For daily driving in Indian cities, Textar Q+ pads deliver consistent performance, low dust, and quiet operation that matches factory specs exactly.

Our Recommendation

For daily city driving with occasional highway use: Textar. For spirited drivers or those who drive in hilly terrain like Shimla or Ooty: Brembo P-Series. Genuine BMW pads are worth paying for only if your car is under warranty and you want to maintain dealer service records.

All three options are available at Eurospares with delivery across India in 3–5 days. Share your BMW's chassis number when ordering to ensure exact fitment — the 3 Series has changed brake caliper specs across E90, F30, and G20 generations.
